Shekarau’s Associate Tackles Kwankwaso Over ‘Disrespectful’ Jonathan Remark
A political associate of Former Governor of Kano state, Malam Ibrahim Shekarau, Alhaji Shehu Yusuf Kura has tackled the current state Governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso over his remark against President Goodluck Jonathan. Kwankwaso had while receiving the leadership of Northern Elders Forum on Tuesday in Kano, accused the president of lacking the guts and capacity to put Nigeria on the right track. He had also accused Jonathan of favouring a section of the country in budgetary allocations to the detriment of the North.
But in his reaction to Kwankwaso’s statement, Kura said President Jonathan has proved beyond reasonable doubt that he has the guts to conduct the affairs of the country and accused the governor of playing dirty politics.
“Kwankwaso is not a democrat, he is a man who rules with iron hand and he doesn’t respect other people’s opinion. On the other hand, Jonathan is a democrat who respects the rule of law and opposition”, he said.
According to him, President Jonathan has been pursuing his policies and programmes through democratic and legal ways.
“We all know that Kwankwaso is likely to contest for the presidency under All Progressives Congress (APC) come 2015 and instead of tongue lashing the President now, he should wait for the general election so that he can face the President. Nigeria should not be left in the hands of regional politicians”, Kura who left the APC recently said.
