Obasanjo, Loyalists Hold Closed Door Meeting In Abeokuta

Coming on the heels of his scathing letter to President Goodluck Jonathan, former President Olusegun Obasanjo yesterday held a closed-door meeting with some of his political associates in the South West Zone at his Hilltop residence in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.

The meeting was attended by former Oyo State governor, Adebayo Alao-Akala; former Ekiti State governor, Segun Oni; former Osun State governor, Olagunsoye Oyinlola; former Lagos State deputy governor, Bucknor Akerele, former Secretary to Oyo State Government, Chief Olayiwola Olakojo, factional chairman of Ogun State chapter of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Dipo Odujinrin.

Others are Chief Yomi Finnih, Prof. Soji Adejumo, Chief Felix Ogunwale, Senator Akinlabi Olasunkanmi, Gen. Tunji Olurin (rtd), Chief Abiola Ogundokun, former Minister of State for defence, Adetokunbo Kayode (SAN) and Otunba Oyewole Fasawe.

No fewer than 40 chieftains of the PDP across the six states of the South West zone attended the meeting.

Earlier in the day the state PDP executives held a meeting at the party’s secretariat, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

The purposes of both meetings were not known as at press time but a source disclosed that the two meetings centered on Mr. Obasanjo’s 18-page letter which has rattled the presidency and generated mixed reaction in the polity since it found its way to the public domain last Wednesday.

It was learnt that after an exhaustive deliberation on the contents of the letter, the meeting “aligned” itself with the former president’s letter to the president.
