Stephen Trevor Chapman, 22, of Arizona, was shot by a 68-year-old man on Saturday morning, after he was found sleeping with the old man’s wife, police said.

The Pinal County Sheriff’s office said that officers were called to a shooting at 1:00 a.m. on Saturday, at the Saddlebrooke adult community in Tucson.

“The 68-year-old man found his 63-year-old wife and Chapman, sleeping together in his guest house. The man, who suffers from Parkinson's disease, woke up Chapman by poking him with a cane and told him to leave,” Pinal County Sheriff’s office spokesperson Tim Gaffney said.

Chapman began yelling obscenities and refused to leave the residence. The old man told police that Chapman charged at him, and at that point he feared for his life, therefore, he fired a "warning shot" with his shotgun.

The bullet hit a nearby wall and Chapman received a minor injury to his hand.

"This was an unusual call for the active senior community. Clearly, this young man should have heeded the warnings of the homeowner to leave his residence and stop sleeping with his wife," Sheriff Paul Babeu said.

“The young man is lucky that he only got poked with the cane and hit with a stray pellet from the shotgun,” he also said.

Chapman was booked into the Pinal County jail on a charge of disorderly conduct. The case was submitted to the Office of the Pinal County Attorney for review. More charges are possible.
