The Commissioner for Lands and Housing, Engineer Stephen Mayaki, who made this known when he led members of the National Good Governance Tour (GGT) team led by the Minister of Information, Labaran Maku on an inspection of project sites in the state on Thursday, said that most of the houses will be allocated free to flood victims, while others will be sold to interested persons at an affordable rate.
Mayaki, who assured that the project will be completed in a few months, said the estate will comprise of one bedroom apartments which would be sold at N1.8 million and two bedroom apartments to be sold at N2.4 million.
It was learnt that the sum of N565 million was expended on the houses, out of which N500 million came from the Federal Government relief intervention fund.
The commissioner also explained that the state is planning to create an island for people in flood prone areas so that they can relocate there during flood.
In his remarks, Mr. Maku, who was represented by his Special Assistant on Media, Kingsley Osadolor, urged the state government to put in place adequate infrastructure to ensure security for the people.
